Eligibility
African American men and women in Tennessee, aged 25-75, are invited to participate in this study. Eligible individuals include those currently diagnosed with colon and/or rectal cancer (with no prior cancer history except non-melanoma or simple skin cancer), as well as cancer-free individuals who may serve as controls.

Participating is straightforward and takes less than an hour of your time. Here is what to expect.
Confirm Your Participation
A member of our study team will contact you to confirm your interest and eligibility. This quick step ensures you meet the study criteria and allows us to guide you through the next steps of the participation process. We will also answer any questions you may have about the study and what to expect.
Complete a Survey
You will be invited to complete a brief online survey or phone interview. It takes 20-30 minutes and includes questions about demographic, and medical history. This information is crucial for our research to understand various factors that may contribute to colorectal cancer risk.
Blood Sample Collection
A blood sample collection kit will be sent to your residence. A time for home blood collection will be arranged at your convenience. Once the collection is completed, your sample will be shipped to Meharry Medical College. A multi-omics assay will be performed. The data will be used for integrated multi-omics analysis. This is a crucial step for our research as it will help us understand the molecular factors associated with colorectal cancer risk. We will provide clear instructions and support to ensure the process is simple and comfortable for you.
